THROUGH LINEAGE AND LOSS: NOTES ON SILENCE
I decided to search for silence. By investigating various landscapes and small towns in Upstate New York and Ontario, I am desiring to find the silence that formed my childhood. Silence is memory, silence is home, silence is the space between words in conversation, somehow holding more weight than the words themselves.
Through written fragments, black & white photographs of small towns as well as portraits of my friends and family, I am exploring that silence is amorphous, vast, and acts as a tool to recall and recount in an attempt to hold onto what has been lost.
